Deaf Community Foundation of British Columbia
The Deaf Community Foundation of British Columbia is a private foundation incorporated in 1999 to hold and invest monies for Deaf [footnote]Footnote: 1. DCFBC sees Deaf people as Deaf, Hard of Hearing, or Deaf-Blind individuals who use sign language as their main method of communication and who identify themselves as Deaf.[/footnote] British Columbians. The Deaf Community Foundation’s primary objectives are to support, promote and encourage the development of projects that benefit Deaf British Columbians. Activities funded by the Deaf Community Foundation of British Columbia provide a service directly linked to the community or support initiatives allowing the community to address any issues affecting Deaf British Columbians.
Through the growth and stewardship of permanent endowment funds and the distribution of income to a broad range of eligible organizations, the Deaf Foundation of BC, in meeting community needs, provides philanthropic leadership to improve the quality of life for all Deaf British Columbians especially Deaf BC Alumni and Deaf Students in British Columbia.
